Target Information
PDGFRB (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cellular transformation mediated by the SIS oncogene. It functions as a mitogen for mesenchymal-origin cells. The receptor forms homo- or heterodimers depending on the bound growth factor. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, adjacent to genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, and may be associated with the 5q- syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12, fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) and ETV6, can lead to chronic myeloproliferative disorders with eosinophilia.
