Target Information
PDGFRB (platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cellular transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor may form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGF receptor alpha, depending on the growth factor bound. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, near genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, and may be involved in the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 that fuses PDGFRB (CD140b) with the ETV6 leukemia gene results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
