Target Information

This gene encodes one of three GA-binding protein transcription factor subunits functioning as a DNA-binding subunit. It shares identity with the nuclear respiratory factor 2 gene subunit and is involved in activation of cytochrome oxidase expression and nuclear control of mitochondrial function. It also shares identity with transcription factor E4TF1, responsible for adenovirus E4 gene expression. Due to its chromosomal localization and heterodimer formation, this gene may be associated with Down Syndrome phenotype. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
