Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor family and is one of four receptors identified for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). It mediates receptor activity through a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system involving G-Q proteins. Knockout studies in mice suggest a role in pain mediation and blood pressure regulation, as well as in adrenocorticotropic hormone response to bacterial endotoxin.
