Product Specific Information

The eBio64CAP17 antibody reacts with human IL-17A and cross-reacts with Rhesus monkey IL-17A. It is a neutralizing antibody and does not react with IL-17F. IL-17A is a CD4+ T cell-derived cytokine involved in inflammatory responses and elevated in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection.

The antibody can be used in ELISA, ELISPOT, intracellular staining, and neutralization assays. In ELISA, it serves as a capture antibody in combination with biotinylated eBio64DEC17 (13-7179) for detection and recombinant human IL-17A (14-8179) as the standard. Recommended capture concentration is 0.5–2.0 µg/mL.

For in vitro neutralization, ≤63 ng/mL of eBio64CAP17 neutralizes 50% of the biological effect of 5 ng/mL human IL-17A (based on IL-6 induction in NHDF cells). Purity is >90% (SDS-PAGE), endotoxin level <0.001 ng/µg (LAL assay), and aggregation <10% (HPLC). The antibody is 0.2 µm filtered post-manufacture and should be used in a sterile environment.

Target Information

Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, CTLA-8) is a 32 kDa homodimeric cytokine produced by CD4+ T cells. It promotes inflammatory responses and induces secretion of IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE2 in epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblastic cells. IL-17A acts via IL-17R/CDw217 and regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, enhancing COX-2 and nitric oxide production.
