DCP2 (Decapping mRNA 2) is a major mRNA decapping enzyme that plays a critical role in the degradation of eukaryotic mRNA. It belongs to the Nudix hydrolase superfamily, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of nucleoside diphosphate derivatives. DCP2 is expressed in multiple tissues, with the highest levels in testis and brain.
