Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody TB28-2 recognizes the kappa light chain of human immunoglobulin. The Ig kappa chain (~22 kDa) consists of one variable and one constant region. Two kappa chains, together with heavy chains, form the complete immunoglobulin structure. Ig kappa is typically expressed on more than half of B lymphocytes.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometry using normal peripheral blood cells. Use at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test in 100 µL total volume. Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

Immunoglobulins share a basic structure of two heavy and two light chains (kappa or lambda, ~22.5 kDa each). Kappa and lambda chains differ by constant region antigenicity, with a typical kappa:lambda ratio of 70:30.
Antibodies to the kappa light chain are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Detection of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates helps confirm malignancy.
