Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity-purified antibody is directed against the MYC epitope tag and is useful for determining its presence in overexpressed proteins in various assays. The antibody recognizes the MYC epitope tag (Glu-Gln-Lys-Leu-Ile-Ser-Glu-Glu-Asp-Leu) fused to either the amino- or carboxy-termini of targeted proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation. The encoded protein forms a heterodimer with transcription factor MAX, binding to the E-box DNA consensus sequence to regulate gene transcription. Amplification of this gene is frequently observed in numerous human cancers. Translocations involving this gene are associated with Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Translation may initiate from both an upstream non-AUG (CUG) and a downstream AUG start site, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
