Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, characterized by periodic changes in protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclins regulate CDK kinases and form complexes with CDK4 or CDK6, essential for G1/S transition. Cyclin D3 is involved in phosphorylation of tumor suppressor protein Rb and is necessary for G2 phase progression after UV exposure. Multiple transcript variants exist.
Diseases associated with CCND3 include Retinoblastoma and Plasma Cell Leukemia.
