Target Information
VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell–cell adhesion glycoprotein and a member of the cadherin superfamily. It is located in a six-cadherin cluster on chromosome 16 and is associated with loss of heterozygosity events in breast and prostate cancer. The protein consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. VE-cadherin plays an essential role in endothelial cell biology by regulating intercellular junction cohesion and organization. An alternative splice variant has been described, though the full-length sequence has not been fully determined.
