For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step.
Recommended desalting tool: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL (Product #89882).

Target Information

The SMAD1 protein belongs to the SMAD family, homologous to the Drosophila mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) and C. elegans Sma genes.
SMAD proteins act as signal transducers and transcriptional modulators mediating multiple signaling pathways, especially those of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs).
SMAD1 is phosphorylated by BMP receptor kinases and forms a complex with SMAD4 to regulate transcription.
It is targeted by SMAD-specific E3 ubiquitin ligases (SMURF1, SMURF2) for ubiquitination and proteasome-mediated degradation.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been observed.
