Target Information
The FOXP1 gene belongs to subfamily P of the forkhead box (FOX) transcription factor family. These transcription factors regulate tissue- and cell type-specific gene expression during development and adulthood. FOXP1 protein contains DNA-binding and protein-protein interaction domains and may function as a tumor suppressor, as it is lost in several tumor types. The gene maps to chromosome region 3p14.1, which is associated with tumor suppressor activity. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
