Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins showing remarkable biochemical diversity, represented by at least 20 polypeptides in human epithelial tissues.
They range in molecular weight from ~40 kDa to ~68 kDa and isoelectric pH from 4.9 to 7.8.
Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are used to distinguish different epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies assist in tumor differential diagnosis via immunohistochemistry and are useful tools in cytopathology and flow cytometry assays.
