PA1-036 detects inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) from human, mouse, and rat tissues and cells, as well as recombinant human and mouse iNOS.
This antibody does not detect other NOS isoforms.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and immunofluorescence procedures.
By Western blot, it detects an ~135 kDa protein representing mouse iNOS from LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues D(17) L K E E K D I N N N V K K T(31) of mouse iNOS.

Target Information

Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase (iNOS) is an enzyme that produces nitric oxide (NO), a gaseous free radical acting as a cellular messenger.
NO mediates vasorelaxation, neurotransmission, and cytotoxicity.
iNOS expression is induced by lipopolysaccharides and cytokines in liver and other tissues.
It catalyzes oxidation of L-arginine to L-citrulline and NO.
Three NOS isoforms exist: neuronal (nNOS, type I), endothelial (eNOS, type III), and inducible (iNOS, type II).
iNOS is found in macrophages, hepatocytes, synoviocytes, and smooth muscle cells.
Cytokines such as IFN-γ, TNF, IL-1, IL-2, and LPS upregulate iNOS expression and activity.
After induction, iNOS shows delayed activation followed by sustained NO production.
iNOS dysfunction is associated with diseases such as achalasia and impotence.
Three related pseudogenes are located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17.
