PTAFR는 로돕신 유전자 패밀리의 구조적 특징을 가지며, platelet-activating factor(PAF)에 결합함.
PAF는 phospholipid (1-0-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphorylcholine)로, 알레르기, 천식, 패혈성 쇼크, 동맥 혈전증 및 염증 과정 등 다양한 병리적 반응의 매개체로 알려져 있음.
