Target Information
CDCA8 is a component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), which includes Survivin, CDCA8, INCENP, and Aurora-B. This complex is essential for the stability of the bipolar mitotic spindle and plays crucial roles during mitosis and cell division.
CDCA8 expression increases during the G2/M phase and decreases after mitotic exit. It is regulated by the p53/Rb-signaling pathway and is upregulated in various cancers.
In Drosophila, CDCA8 inactivation leads to polyploidy, delayed mitosis, and abnormal tissue development, highlighting its importance in cell proliferation.
Recent studies indicate that CDCA8 is essential for early embryonic development, and its aberrant expression is associated with poor prognosis in gastric cancer.
