Product Specific Information

This antibody binds specifically to the cardiac Troponin I peptide (KISASRKLQLKT).
The epitope is 100% conserved among a wide variety of mammalian species, including monkeys, squirrels, hamsters, mice, rats, rabbits, whales, mole-rats, antelopes, and several other mammals.

Target Information

Cardiac Troponin I (TnI) is a cardiac-specific inhibitory protein that functions as part of the troponin complex with troponin C (TnC) and troponin T (TnT) in cardiac muscle.
TnT binds to tropomyosin to form a troponin–tropomyosin complex, anchored by the binding of TnI to actin within thin filaments.
Upon calcium binding to TnC, TnI undergoes a structural change that releases its inhibitory region from actin, enabling myosin attachment and muscle contraction.

Measurement of blood TnI and TnT levels is a key diagnostic indicator of cardiac muscle damage, aiding in distinguishing angina from myocardial infarction.
Cardiac Troponin I has also been reported to inhibit angiogenesis both in vivo and in vitro.
Mutations in the Cardiac Troponin I gene are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy type 7 (CMH7) and familial restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM).
