Target Information
Parathyroid hormone receptor 1 (PTH1R) is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor family. It acts as a receptor for parathyroid hormone (PTH) and parathyroid hormone-like hormone (PTHLH). The receptor mediates its activity via G proteins, activating adenylyl cyclase and the phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system.
Mutations in this receptor are associated with Jansen’s metaphyseal chondrodysplasia (JMC), Blomstrand chondrodysplasia (BOCD), and enchondromatosis.
Expression of PTH1R has been reported in bone, breast, brain, colon, gastrointestinal tract, kidney, liver, placenta, skin, umbilical cord, and uterus.
