NME4 is a protein kinase that transfers phosphate groups from ATP to substrate proteins, mediating signal transduction in eukaryotic cells. It regulates metabolism, transcription, cell cycle, cytoskeletal dynamics, apoptosis, and differentiation.
Protein kinases form one of the largest protein families in eukaryotes, classified into 8 major groups based on catalytic domain sequences. The AGC kinase group includes PKA, PKG, PKC, RAC/Akt, ARK, and RSK families.
