Product Specific Information

  • It is not recommended to aliquot this antibody.
  • This antibody is not cross-reactive with p53 phosphorylated at other sites.

Target Information

The tumor suppressor protein p53 is a sequence-specific transcription factor activated by cellular stress. It mediates cell cycle arrest or apoptosis in response to DNA damage or nutrient deprivation. Phosphorylation at Ser15 is critical for p53 activation and stabilization. p53 plays a role in blocking proliferation of damaged cells and acts as an anticancer agent.
Mutations in p53 are common in human cancers and lead to loss of tumor suppressor activity. Alterations in the TP53 gene occur both as somatic and germline mutations, such as in Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
