Product Specific Information

MA1-06300 detects E-cadherin in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blotting, flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry on fixed cells (methanol fixation), and immunohistochemistry.
By Western blotting, it detects a ~120 kDa protein representing E-cadherin.
The immunogen is MCF-7/AZ cells expressing E-cadherin at their cell surface.
Store at 4°C, or in small aliquots at -20°C.

Target Information

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily.
It is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations are associated with gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers.
Loss of function contributes to cancer progression by enhancing proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
The ectodomain mediates bacterial adhesion, while the cytoplasmic domain is required for internalization.
E-cadherin, encoded by the CDH1 gene on chromosome 16, plays a central role in maintaining tissue architecture and integrity.
Reduced expression correlates with increased tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential.
