Product Specific Information
MA1-06310 detects cardiotin in human and porcine samples.
It has successfully been used in Western blotting and immunohistochemistry.
By Western blotting, it detects a ~300 kDa protein representing cardiotin.
The immunogen is cardiotin purified from mouse spleen cells.
Target Information
Cardiotin is a high molecular weight protein complex (~300 kDa) located in the longitudinal sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) of cardiomyocytes.
It consists of 60 kDa and 100 kDa subunits, both sharing the same amino-terminal 14 amino-acid sequence and showing high homology to human skeletal muscle alpha-actin.
The tetrameric configuration suggests a transmembrane complex with the N-terminus at the cytoplasmic side, interacting with actin.
Immunofluorescence studies show colocalization of cardiotin with SERCA 2a ATPase in the longitudinal SR, but not in junctional SR with SERCA 2.
