Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They comprise multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, providing the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.

While functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies—recognizing multiple epitope sites and offering higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets—Superclonal™ antibodies have a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, ensuring reproducibility across lots.

Target Information

Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a family of peroxidases involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx proteins (approximately 50 isoforms) contain active site cysteine residues and exhibit thiol-specific antioxidant activity.

Mammalian Prx consists of six members grouped into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx. Except for Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), the others exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity utilizing thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH.

Mammalian Prxs (20–30 kDa) vary in subcellular localization:

• Prx I, II, VI: cytosol
• Prx III: mitochondria
• Prx IV: endoplasmic reticulum and secretion
• Prx V: peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
