Prolactin (PRL)은 젖 분비, 염분 및 수분 조절, 성장, 발달, 생식에 관여하는 뇌하수체 호르몬입니다. PRL은 세포막의 PRL 수용체(PRLR)에 결합하여 신호전달 경로를 활성화합니다. PRLR은 세포 및 조직에 따라 약 40~100 kDa의 크기를 가지며, 세포외 영역(5개의 시스테인 포함), 단일 막관통 영역, 세포질 영역으로 구성됩니다. 세포질 영역의 길이는 리간드 결합 및 세포 기능 조절에 영향을 미칩니다.
