Antibody detects endogenous levels of MyoD1 only when phosphorylated at Thr115.
Target Information
The Myogenic determination gene (MyoD) was first identified by its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells to muscle cells. Forced expression of MyoD (human homolog is myf3) can activate muscle-specific genes or convert various cell types into muscle cells.
The regulatory domain of the MyoD gene product includes a 70 amino acid region with a basic DNA-binding motif and a helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif.
Other related genes sharing sequence homology for the basic HLH domain include myf5, myogenin (myf4), and myf6 (also known as MRF4 and herculin).
