Target Information
ATG4C는 자가포식(autophagy)에 관여하는 단백질로, 세포 내 단백질과 손상된 소기관을 제거하는 과정에 필수적입니다. 자가포식은 세포 항상성 유지, 분화, 변태, 비아폽토시스성 세포 사멸 및 노화 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 일부 악성 종양에서는 자가포식 수준이 감소된 것으로 보고되었으며, 암세포의 비정상적 성장 조절과 관련이 있을 것으로 제안되었습니다.
이 유전자는 autophagin 단백질 계열의 구성원을 인코딩하며, C-54 family cysteine protease로도 알려져 있습니다. MAP1LC3, GABARAPL2 또는 GABARAP의 C-말단을 절단하여 form I을 생성하며, form II는 phosphatidylethanolamine(PE) 결합형으로 자가포식소체에 결합할 수 있습니다. 골격근, 심장, 간, 고환에서 높은 발현을 보입니다.
