Description:
The 53-6.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD8a, a 32–34 kDa cell surface receptor expressed as either a heterodimer (CD8αβ) or homodimer (CD8αα). CD8 interacts with MHC class I and associates with tyrosine kinase p56lck, playing a critical role in T cell development and activation.
Applications Reported:
This antibody is suitable for flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Validated by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended usage ≤ 0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may vary from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Optimal titration is advised.

Brilliant Ultra Violet™ 395 (BUV395) emits at 395 nm and is optimized for instruments with a 355 nm UV laser.
Buffer Recommendations:
When using multiple polymer dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401-42) or Brilliant Stain Buffer™ (Product # 00-4409-75) to minimize non-specific interactions.

Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin receptor family involved in T cell signal transduction, differentiation, and activation. CD8 acts as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecules and is expressed on T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes triggers Lck-mediated activation leading to cytokine production and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
