Neurog3 단백질은 basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) 도메인을 포함하며, 배아 췌장 전구세포로부터 내분비섬 세포 분화를 유도하는 데 필수적입니다. 또한 내분비 세포의 성숙과 기능 유지에 관여하며, bipotential secretory progenitors의 분화를 내분비 세포로 전환시키는 역할을 하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
