Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속하며, 중추신경계의 성상세포 및 특정 astroglia에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 말초신경의 위성세포, 비수초성 슈반세포, 신경줄기세포에서도 GFAP 발현이 확인됩니다. GFAP 항체는 astrocytic cell의 표지자로 유용하며, astrocytic cell 유래 뇌종양에서도 강하게 발현됩니다. GFAP는 수정체 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 일부 침샘 종양 세포 및 적혈구에서도 보고되었습니다. GFAP는 발달 과정 중 astrocytes와 다른 glial cell을 구분하는 데 사용되며, GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 Alexander disease(희귀한 성상세포 질환)를 유발합니다. GFAP 유전자는 여러 전사체 변이체를 가지며, 서로 다른 isoform을 암호화합니다.
