Product Specific Information
The RM4-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by a majority of thymocytes, subpopulation of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells and plays an important role in T cell development and function.
Binding of RM4-5 is blocked by GK1.5.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse thymocytes and splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize by titration.

Target Information
CD4 antigen recognizes MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. Primarily expressed in T helper cells, but also found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression occurs in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of brain and gut.
Functions include initiating early T-cell activation and mediating neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
