Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human TGF-alpha. Anti-Human TGF-alpha-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human TGF-alpha by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human TGF-alpha (500-P16) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human TGF-alpha.

Western Blot:
To detect Human TGF-alpha by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human TGF-alpha is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

TGF-alpha is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor and stimulates proliferation of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and various tumor cells. TGF-alpha induces anchorage-independent transformation in cultured cells. Human, murine, and rat TGF-alpha are cross-species reactive. TGF-alpha (aa 50) has 33% homology to EGF, binds to EGFR, activates tyrosine phosphorylation of the receptor, and stimulates cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing a reversible transformed phenotype.
