Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human TGF-alpha. Anti-Human TGF-alpha-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human TGF-alpha by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human TGF-alpha (500-P16) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human TGF-alpha.

Western Blot:
To detect Human TGF-alpha by Western Blot analysis, use at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL.
When used with compatible secondary reagents, detection limit for Recombinant Human TGF-alpha is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

TGF-alpha is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor and stimulates proliferation of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and various tumor cells, and induces anchorage-independent transformation in cultured cells.
Human, murine, and rat TGF-alpha are cross-species reactive. TGF-alpha (aa 50) shares 33% homology with EGF, binds to EGFR, activates tyrosine phosphorylation of the receptor, and promotes cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing reversible transformed phenotypes.
