Target Information
Superoxide dismutase (SOD)는 활성산소(ROS)에 대한 방어 시스템에 관여하는 항산화 효소입니다. SOD는 superoxide radical anion (O₂)을 hydrogen peroxide로 전환시키며, 이후 glutathione peroxidase와 catalase에 의해 무해한 O₂와 H₂O로 변환됩니다.
SOD는 여러 클래스가 존재하며, 대표적으로 다음과 같습니다:
- SOD1 (Cu, Zn-SOD): 모든 진핵생물에서 발견되는 32 kDa 효소로, 각 서브유닛에 Cu와 Zn 이온을 포함하는 homodimer 구조.
- SOD2 (Mn-SOD): 미토콘드리아 기질에 위치한 80 kDa tetramer 효소로, 미토콘드리아 호흡사슬 근처에서 superoxide를 제거.
- SOD3 (EC-SOD): 주로 폐, 혈관벽, 기도에서 발현되는 heparin-binding multimer 형태의 효소.
- SOD4 (CCS): Cu/Zn-SOD에 Cu를 전달하는 copper chaperone으로, 효소 활성화를 직접적으로 유도.
