Antibody detects endogenous levels of total BAG5.
Target Information
It has been hypothesized that the BAG-5 protein induces death of nigral neurons through its predicted interaction with hsp70, leading to increased protein aggregation and cell death by disinhibition of hsp70’s anti-apoptotic function. BAG-5 is believed to play an important role in neuronal death mechanisms and may modulate the hsp70/hsp40 chaperone axis or coordinate localization and modulation of other BAG-containing proteins via BAG-BAG heterodimerization.
