This antibody detects endogenous levels of ATM only when phosphorylated at Ser1981.
Target Information
Ataxia-telangiectasia Mutated (ATM) belongs to the PI3/PI4 kinase family. Mutations in ATM cause ataxia-telangiectasia, a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by neurodegeneration, immune deficiency, and increased cancer risk. ATM functions as a serine/threonine kinase that phosphorylates several key regulators of the cell cycle, including P53, Mdm2, BRCA1, and SMC1. It plays a central role in the repair of double-stranded DNA breaks caused by ionizing radiation and other mutagens. Upon DNA damage, ATM is autophosphorylated at Ser1981, activating downstream kinase cascades involved in cell cycle control, apoptosis, and DNA repair.
