Target Information
Interferons are widely used therapeutic agents due to their antitumor and antiviral effects, as well as modulation of the immune system (Biron, 2001; Kirkwood, 2002). These cytokines exert their effects by binding to the Type I Interferon Receptor (IFNAR1). Downregulation of this receptor determines the magnitude and duration of cytokine signaling and is influenced by phosphorylation of Serine 535 and 539 in IFNAR1 (Kumar et al., 2003).
