Target Information
EPHB1 is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the ephrin receptor family. Members of the Eph family play critical roles in biological processes such as nervous system development, angiogenesis, and synapse formation and maturation.
EphB1 and other EphB family proteins are type I membrane-spanning proteins composed of immunoglobulin, fibronectin type III, and cysteine-rich subdomains in the ectodomain, with a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain and a C-terminal SAM domain.
EphB family proteins bind to ephrin-B ligands, which are transmembrane proteins capable of bidirectional signaling. EphB1 is mainly expressed in developing neural structures and vascular epithelium of the kidney and other tissues.
Binding to ephrin B1 regulates cell attachment and assembly, with roles in neuronal and vascular cell targeting.
