Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat IL-13. Anti-Rat IL-13-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat IL-13 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Rat IL-13 (500-P224) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat IL-13.

Western Blot:
To detect Rat IL-13 by Western Blot, use at 0.1–0.2 mg/mL.
Detection limit for Recombinant Rat IL-13 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity and inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production. IL-13 plays a role in allergen-induced asthma independent of IgE and eosinophils, regulates B cell maturation and differentiation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching. Structurally, IL-13 resembles IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF. The IL13, IL3, IL5, IL4, and CSF2 genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, with IL13 located near IL4.
