Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily and acts as a key regulator of xenobiotic and endobiotic metabolism. The protein binds DNA as a monomer or as a heterodimer with the retinoid X receptor, regulating transcription of genes involved in drug metabolism and bilirubin clearance (e.g., cytochrome P450 family). Unlike most nuclear receptors, it is constitutively active in the absence of ligand but can be modulated by agonists and inverse agonists.
