Target Information

Ki-67 is a nuclear protein expressed during late G1, S, G2, and M phases of the cell cycle. It associates with euchromatin, centromeric heterochromatin, and the nucleolus through its forkhead associated (FHA) domain.
Ki-67 shows cell cycle-dependent localization: perinucleolar in G1, nuclear matrix in G2, and chromosomal during M phase.
It serves as a proliferation marker since it is absent in G0 cells and increases from G1 through mitosis.
Ki-67 antibodies help determine the proliferating fraction in neoplasms, correlating with tumor grade and prognosis.
Commonly used as a neuronal marker for cell cycling and proliferation studies.
