Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The ligand identity determines whether the receptor forms a homodimer or heterodimer (PDGF receptor alpha and beta). The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, near GM-CSF and CSF1R genes, all implicated in the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) and ETV6 is associated with chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
