Target Information

Sarcomere assembly is regulated by the muscle protein titin, a giant elastic protein with kinase activity that spans half the length of a sarcomere. Titin serves as a scaffold for myofibrils and other muscle-related proteins.
TCAP is a protein found in striated and cardiac muscle that binds to the titin Z1–Z2 domains and acts as a substrate for titin kinase, interactions critical for sarcomere assembly.
Mutations in the TCAP gene are associated with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2G.
