Target Information

IGF1 (Insulin-like growth factor-1) is structurally and functionally related to insulin but has a much higher growth-promoting activity.
It induces various cellular responses such as proliferation, differentiation, migration, and survival.
IGF1 stimulates the proliferation of cell types in muscle, bone, and cartilage tissue and enhances glucose transport and uptake in osteoblastic cells.
In circulation, IGFs are bound to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), which prolong their half-life and assist delivery to target tissues.
IGF-I is a potent activator of the AKT signaling pathway, promoting proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis.
Mature human IGF-I is 100% homologous with bovine and porcine proteins.
Low levels of IGF1 have been linked to Alzheimer’s disease.
Defects in the IGF1 gene cause insulin-like growth factor 1 deficiency, and several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
