Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, involved in maintaining neuronal caliber. They are composed of three major proteins: NF-L (light), NF-M (medium), and NF-H (heavy).
NF-L is the low molecular weight subunit (~70 kDa), while NF-H ranges from 180–220 kDa depending on species.
Expression of these neuronal intermediate filament proteins is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
