Product Specific Information

Description:
The RPA-2.10 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD2, a 50 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by most thymocytes, all mature T cells, and a subset of NK cells. CD2 serves as a ligand for CD58 and plays a key role in T-cell adhesion and activation. RPA-2.10 blocks mixed lymphocyte reactions and cross-reacts with non-human primates and pigs.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometry, Western blotting (WB), and immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections. Also used for in vitro blocking of human CD2 (LFA-2). For functional assays, use the Functional Grade purified RPA-2.10 (Product #16-0029-81).

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤0.5 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (45–58 kDa) expressed on all peripheral blood T cells and some NK cells, but not on B cells. It is among the earliest T-cell markers, present on over 95% of thymocytes. CD2 interacts with CD58 to mediate T-cell adhesion and activation. The CD2–CD58 interaction stabilizes cell-cell contact and enhances immune responses. CD2 deficiency is associated with reduced intestinal inflammation and certain immune disorders.
