Description:
The HI149 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD1a, a 49 kDa protein expressed by cortical thymocytes and dendritic cells including Langerhans cells. CD1 family proteins share structural and functional similarities with MHC class I molecules but are non-polymorphic. CD1a associates with β2-microglobulin and plays a role in antigen presentation.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis using human MOLT-4 cell line. Recommended ≤1 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration is advised for specific assay conditions.

Target Information

CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I–related cell surface glycoprotein expressed in association with β2-microglobulin. It is found on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, dendritic cells, and certain T-cell leukemias. CD1a mediates the presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells. The human genome contains five CD1 family genes (CD1a–e), which differ in localization and ligand specificity. CD1a localizes to the plasma membrane and early endocytic vesicles. Alternative splicing variants have been observed but their biological roles remain unclear.
