Description:
The eBioSN13 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD1b. CD1 molecules are similar to MHC class I proteins but present lipid and glycolipid antigens to T-cell receptors (TCR) instead of peptides. These antigens can originate from self or mycobacterial sources, including sphingolipids, mycolic acid derivatives, and phosphatidylinositols such as liparabinomannan (LAM) and glucose monomycolate (GMM).
CD1b is a 45 kDa protein expressed as a heterodimer composed of CD1b noncovalently paired with beta2-microglobulin.

Applications Reported:
This antibody is suitable for flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistology staining of frozen tissue sections.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of SN13 cells. Recommended use ≤1 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number should be empirically determined (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

This gene encodes a CD1 family transmembrane glycoprotein, structurally related to MHC proteins, forming heterodimers with beta-2-microglobulin. CD1 proteins present lipid and glycolipid antigens of self or microbial origin to T cells.
The human genome contains five CD1 family genes on chromosome 1, differing in localization and lipid ligand specificity.
The encoded protein localizes to late endosomes and lysosomes via a tyrosine-based motif in the cytoplasmic tail and requires vesicular acidification for lipid antigen binding.
