- Predicted to react with canine, chicken, human, mouse, and non-human primate based on 100% sequence homology.
- Specific for ~115 kDa APP protein.
- Immunolabeling of the APP protein band is completely blocked by preadsorption with the immunizing peptide.
Target Information
Amyloid beta peptide (Abeta/Beta-amyloid) is the major constituent of amyloid plaques in the brains of individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease. Abeta peptide (40–43 amino acids) is generated from the beta-amyloid precursor protein (beta APP) through sequential cleavage by beta-secretase (BACE) and gamma-secretase.
Gamma-secretase is a multi-subunit complex including presenilin-1 and -2, and nicastrin, which modulates APP processing.
Abeta accumulates in amyloid cores, neuritic plaques, and neurofibrillary tangles, characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders such as Lewy body dementia, Down’s syndrome, and cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
