S100A9 (MRP-14)는 2개의 EF-hand calcium-binding motif을 가진 S100 단백질 패밀리의 구성원입니다. S100 단백질은 다양한 세포의 세포질 및/또는 핵에 존재하며, 세포 주기 진행 및 분화 등 여러 세포 과정 조절에 관여합니다. S100 유전자는 염색체 1q21에 클러스터 형태로 위치한 최소 13개의 멤버를 포함합니다. 이 단백질은 casein kinase 억제에 관여할 수 있으며, 발현 변화는 낭포성 섬유증과 관련이 있습니다.
