Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal cells. The receptor composition (homodimer or heterodimer with PDGFRB) depends on the bound ligand. Studies in knockout mice indicate PDGFRA’s essential role in kidney development, as heterozygous mice exhibit kidney defects.
